Everyone has done it, or knows someone who has. That's right. Car or house is locked, and you are on the outside. The keys? On the inside. You may want to call and get price quotes, or at
3 am, you may want the fastest arrival time. Here are some things to consider when you find yourself locked out.
1-Beware of those fly by night businesses. They may quote cheap or fast, but the tint your BMW M3 may get scratched, or worse, your door lock could get broken without you even knowing.
2- You get what you pay for. 1800 lockdummy may "quote" you 100 bucks, but once he gets there and unlocks your home or vehicle, the price is suddenly 200. He will explain that his quote of 100 bucks only covers his service call, or in other words- just to show up. But, he tacks on another 100 to cover his labor.
3- Using someone you have used before is the best route. You know what to expect, and you can feel confident that your car or home will be carefully unlocked by a licensed and bonded professional.
4- When you call a locksmith, if the person who answers the call sounds like they are from the deep south of somewhere... they most likely are. The trend is to have national call centers and then hire some untrained person in a region to run those calls. So- if you are interested in doing business with local businesses- just ask. And, most likely a 1800 number is not going to give you a locally run and operated company.
